Supply List: 1” three-ring binder, 3 binder dividers, notebook paper, pencils, grading pen, graph paper, and a basic calculator will also be used periodically
Description: This is an introduction to what students will face as they enter middle school math. We create a path for students to develop an in-depth understanding of key mathematical concepts needed to succeed in higher level math classes. This foundational class introduces the concepts needed for Middle School Math - Grade 7 and some early Pre-Algebra. We will cover whole numbers, rational numbers, decimals, number theory, fractions, ratios, proportions, percentages, data/graphs, geometry concepts, and integers in preparation for one-and two-step equations and inequalities. In addition to classroom teaching, some online teaching resources (videos & examples) will be used to enhance the class and help students when they are working on their own to better understand the course material. Homework will be assigned to enhance classroom lessons and given for each day of the week, while tests will be given at the end of each chapter. If your child is advanced in math as a 6th grader, please look into Middle School Math - Grade 7.
Prerequisite: A pretest will be required for students who have not taken Math Grade 5 at HHL.

Supply List: 1” three-ring binder, 3 binder dividers, notebook paper, pencils, grading pen, graph paper and a basic calculator will also be used periodically
Description: If your child is an average 7th grade math student, this is the course we recommend. This foundational class should be the last fundamental math class your child will ever need and will cover the concepts needed for Pre-Algebra. We will continue the foundational objectives needed to prepare students for Pre-Algebra, while covering decimals, integers and rational numbers, ratios, rates, and proportions, graphing, exponents, fractions, decimals, and percents, geometry measurement including perimeter and area, probability, equations, and inequalities. In addition to classroom teaching, some online teaching resources (videos & examples) will be used to enhance the class and help students when they are working on their own to better understand the course material. Homework will be assigned for each day of the week, while tests will occur at the end of each chapter. If your 7th grader is advanced in math, please look at our Pre-Algebra class.
Prerequisite: A pretest will be required for students who have not taken Math Grade 6 at HHL.

Prerequisite: A pretest will be required for students who have not taken Math Grade 7 at HHL.
Course: Algebra I Delta Math (not college preparatory)
Grade Level: 9-10 (Advanced 8th graders may also apply)
Day/Time: Tuesday and Thursday 8:35 - 9:50am
Instructor: Carla Stevenson
Cost: $99 per month + $50 application fee
Online Availability: Students can enroll in this class as an Online Real Time student, pending teacher approval.
Book: None, laptop required
Description: This course is designed for students who struggle with math. It will enable them to obtain the credits required for a high school diploma without unnecessary anxiety placed on them by trying to achieve the mastery required for college and/or standardized testing. Delta Math is a self-paced online platform we will use to help us achieve this goal. The broad topics that are covered in a typical Algebra I class will be covered in this Algebra I class, but the scope of the problems will be restricted so as not to overly frustrate students who struggle to understand the material. Thus, a student who completes this Algebra I Delta Math class will have done the work to obtain an Algebra I credit, but they may not have the problem solving skills or mastery needed to test well on college placement tests such as the ACT or the SAT. Students enrolling in this course will still be expected to know their math facts and will be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals, fractions, and signed numbers. Since the course is online and self-paced, the classroom time will be spent getting help from the teacher on any topics the student is not understanding. Students in this class will need to bring a laptop to class each day and work independently from other students, utilizing the teacher for help and instruction during class time. Tests will be taken at home so that students can maximize teacher assistance with problems when in the classroom.
*Algebra 2 Delta Math will be offered the following school year (2027-2028) to accommodate the students who choose to take Algebra 1 Delta Math during the 2026-2027 school year. A student taking Algebra 1 Delta Math will not be adequately prepared to take our regular Algebra 2 course the following year.

Description: This is a college-prep Algebra I course. Students will transition from manipulation of known numbers to finding an unknown value that is represented by a variable. It is the starting point for learning mathematical symbolic reasoning. Topics covered include a review of the arithmetic skills needed to succeed in algebra, monomials and polynomial expressions, factoring to simplify and solve equations, solving and graphing linear and quadratic equations, and developing critical problem-solving skills by applying algebraic concepts to practical situations. This course provides the foundation for success in advanced math courses. Homework will be assigned at each class and will be due at the beginning of the next class, while a quiz or test will be given about every two-three weeks.
Prerequisite: A grade of 70% or higher in Pre-Algebra. A pretest will be required for students who have not taken Pre-Algebra at HHL.
Tutoring: Ms. Scott and Mrs. Good will be in their classrooms from 10:00 - 10:40am on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help tutor students needing extra help. This is a free service for any student taking any section of Algebra I.
