Description: This course is a beginning Latin course for the middle school student and serves as an introduction into the language. The study of Latin builds vocabulary and strengthens grammar, giving the student a highly advanced understanding of his/her own language, as well as the ability to learn and understand other modern languages more easily, especially the 5 derived from Latin. We’ve designed this course to be an intro to Latin and much less intensive than its high school counterparts and middle school Latin II, as it has a shorter class time and less homework assigned. We will be completing the first half of the book, chapters 1-7, in this course. Homework will be given each week and quizzes/tests will be administered every 3-4 weeks. We will enhance the class with some online resources in order to aid the student outside the classroom.

*Students who complete Middle School Latin I & II can move directly into High School Latin II and should be able to receive a high school credit for Latin I.
